Anyone here know what the label of an 18.00 X 25 - 40PR tire translates to english units as? I'm trying to find the width of the tire when looking at the tire head on (when you can't see the rim).
That is an off the road tire, over 5' in diameter, used on forklifts and other heavy equipment. The designation is in nominal English units, but the actual dimensions are somewhat different:
"18" is the nominal tire width, in inches. The actual width is 20.3" with no applied load, 21.3" when loaded.
"25" is the nominal wheel diameter, in inches.
"40PR" is the equivalent tire ply rating, in this case, equal to 40 plies.
