Can someone help me with a successful strategy for inspection of ethylene furnace convection side (htc and ltc bundles, BFW coils, crossovers, )?
What are the best NDT aplicable with the best results. Can please someone share some experience.

Googling brought this response from the Hendix Group website (always informative):

"Depending on the configuration of the finned tubes, you might consider boroscope inspection. Ultrasonic wall thickness (IRIS) inspection may also be a possibility, depending on the diameter of the tubes. Finned BFW tubes are difficult to inspect and you may have to sacrifice one or two properly selected ones."

Hope this helps.

Smart pigging will work if you are looking for UT scanning. RT/UT at 180 degree bends. Visual inspection for bowing and fouling.
