Hi guys,
Currently working on an ethanol distillation column and want to look at the sensible heat and resulting steam savings if preheater installed to feed temperature to boiling point.
Assumptions given at the top of the spreadsheet and I'm pretty confident of the numbers although thought best to ask some of the more experienced engineers for their comments.
Currently have reflux ratio of 4, want to install preheater to raise feed temp from 26 deg C to around 78 deg C and then try reducing reflux ratio to reduce column condenser and reboiler duty.
Could you please review the attached document and make any changes or recommendations you feel will help.
