What are the things to be considered in the design of ethanol storage tanks? Why are some tanks provided with double walls? Can anyone suggest a website that can enlighten me on these matters.

I haven't been in that line of work in a while. However, the double walled vessels were for insulation so as to keep the product cool. If you really want a detailed explanation- call CBI Na-Con in Houston. They build these vessels on a regular basis.

The ethanol tanks I've been recently involved in were rather straight forward CS tanks, internal floating roofs, inlet diffuser, no double walls or bottoms, about 6,000 bbl capacity. These were storing ethanol for gasoline blending at a bulk terminal.

They were being built by Matrix Services, you might want to chat with them.
