Please see the attached PDF for sketch of a Special Concentric Braced Frame (SCBF). I have modeled in ETABS the braces from work point to work point (Fig-2) but in reality the actual configuration (Fig-1) has big fat gusset plates and the actual lengths of the braces are shorter. I want to modify the stiffness in ETABS for the brace members based on the relative stiffness. How can I do that in ETABS? Do I need to calculate the stiffness of the gusset plat and the HSS member and come up with a modifier? What stiffness modifier I should update? How to calculate the modifier? I think it is just the Area modifier based on the relationship (stiffness)k=AE/L. Am I missing anything? Or is there any alternate to account for stiffness of gussets in the brace element in ETABS? Any help would be highly appreciated. Thank you!
