Etabs design beam as column

What kind of members are you talking about?
Concrete? Steel?
If you're talking about steel, I don't think calling the member a column or beam should make any difference to the normal code check. Unless you're doing some seismic detailing checks on the member.
For concrete members, the member type (beam or column) is determined as part of the frame section properties. Specifically part of the Reinforcement properties. See images below:
