Hello,

I am Algor non-experienced user. I attempted to conduct CFD analyse of glider fuselage. I had surface modeled fuselage in Solid Works, transfered it to Algor and mashed. After changing matherial in air(from algor libary),adding surface prescribed velocity and setting analysis parametar I preformed model check and recived this message:

ALGOR (R) (c)
Version 19.20-WIN 28-JUN-2006
Copyright (c) Copyright ALGOR, Inc. All rights reserved.
** Model [C:\Documents and Settings\fuselage model] opened
--- 4437 nodes
--- 5 element parts ...

Error: Material invalid in element part 5

Would You be so kind and help me out.

Best regards,

What is part 5, what element type do you have defined, what material model are you using and what material did you input? For instance, if Part 5 is defined as "plate", but you are attempting to apply "air" as the material, you will get this error. If you have an orthotropic material model, but are using isotropic material properties, you will get this error.

My concern is that for CFD, you should model the fuselage, encase it in a block and subtract the fuselage. In CFD, you model the fluid space, not the solid. If you are trying to do a fluid-structure interaction problem, that is much more difficult.

I have an example of a 2-D flow over a wing cross-section on my website. Probably not the best example (I don't do a lot of CFD work), but it may give you some idea.

Click on the graphic and it will run the animation.
