Dear All,

In my plant at many location equal percentage valve used. I want to know which is the criteria to choose such kind of valve. your feedback highly appreciated.

If the process gain drops as flow through the system goes up, a valve with an inherent equal percentage characteristic helps linearize the process response. There's a great PowerPoint presentation on this here, and the examples in the presentation use pipe length as the parameter that affects process gain. (Be sure to look at the notes for each presentation slide - they contain good information.) Other nonlinear effects besides pipe length can require equal percentage valves, though. For example, if the gain of a heat exchanger decreases with flow, you'd use an equal percentage valve.
