Equal mesh for attaching/overlapping surfaces

Hi Guys,

I've been looking around how to mesh attaching/overlapping surfaces in order to have merging nodes.
I started to try one big surface, with a smaller surface inside. How do I get the smaller surface to have the same mesh as the larger surface for the area in which they overlap?
