EPR Cable Conductor crimp

Got a question about EPR cable.

22KV 240mm2 EPR cable having conductor dia. 21.4mm

The suggested crimp lug is for XLPE to suit 240mm2 has only 20mm ID

which is not able to fit the conductor.

The next size up cable lug(XLPE) is for 300mm2 with a dia of 22.6mm.

What is the recommended ideal Die to achieve the neccessary compression % for the cable if the 300mm2 lug were being used? AF

Can we treat these as being a normal 300mm2 cable? because we do not want to overcrimp the lug barrel and effecting other things.

The answer is manufacturer specific. You need to supply more details. Who "suggested" using a crimp lug that doesn't fit the conductor? Is this stranded or solid conductor?

We often place in extra wire to fix this problem. This is a common problem with oil filled transformers.

The lug manufacturer will have the wire area range it is designed to accomodate. Simply add enough extra wire to the crimp terminal to make up this extra fill and crimp as normal.

So it sounds to me like you need to add 60mm2 of wire to your lug.
