I'm currently working on a model for a distribution network in a small community. I noticed that I was getting some strange flows when I was closing off some of the pipes, so I set up the most basic network I could think of (a reservoir with a fixed head connected to a single junction with a base demand). When I closed the pipe between the reservoir and the junction, flow STILL came out of the juction, even though no flow was present in the pipe. Is this a conservation of mass bug in EPANET or am I missing something here?

Thanks

you should be getting an error on a disconnected node
since the program cannot come to a solution it gives the best solution it can.
you may want to increase the iteration

Do you still have a demand at the node?
Change the demands to zero to stop flow, simply closing a valve doesnt work as the program attempts to get flow to that node
