Has anyone had any experience with using PDMWorks Enterprise templates?

The question at hand is how to create a template input form and subsequently capture that data filled in on the form, transfer it to a document, and to the variables in the database.

for instance I have an excel workbook that I would like to populate certain cells with items in the text boxes on the template input form.

Has anyone done this?

Jon

You can attach the Excel file to the SolidWorks file via the Design Binder. The data will always stay with the part/dwg/assy.

From SW Help:
To display the Design Binder:

In the FeatureManager design tree, right-click the document name, and select Hide/Show Tree items.

In the System Options - FeatureManager dialog box, under Hide/Show Tree Items, for Design Binder, select Show.

Click OK.

Chris,

Not what he's looking for.

Jon,

I know from demo's that it is possible, but not having the program myself I couldn't tell you how it's done, only that I recall seeing that feature shown off at a VAR showing.

thanks guys,

Joe you are exactly right. Here's the funny thing, i have done those demos! But when you do them, they are canned, and you need to just extract them and learn the demo... hard to see what they did under the hood!

What I am trying to do, is have the fields on the template input form be completed by the user, and take each one and write it to the appropriate cell. The use would be for and ECN, or in this case a electrical device disclosure. The template would need to open an existing excel sheet that is already formatted and basically just fill in the blanks, then pdm can save the document to the correct folder....

well maybe someone out here has done this themselves?

Thanks

Jon
