I am working now over second hand TLC1005, 5-axis Trumpf laser, model 1999, what has been signed off and auctioned from no more existing plant Harley-Davidson, Pennsylvania.

Sorry, brothers... At list this machine did not kiss good by for China.

What I am doing now is called "reverse engineering".

CNC is based onto "Windows" 3.1, and requested passwords every time I try go to the file manager or go to just simple DOS.

Is anybody at this forum, or friends, or friends of other friends had ever working with 5-axis lasers from Trumpf based onto Windows 3.1?

Does anybody have a link to the former Harley-Davidson laser tech-programmer, who I may call "prodigal brother"?

Does anybody knows Trumpf passwords other than "minuntes plus?"

While some password stuff can be things that were set by the end user for network logon/security or whatever, an alarming number of machine manufacturers are using passwords to control your options when it comes to maintenance/repair. example- Your machine's controller says you need an oil change in the blower or something. The oil change is usually pretty simple, BUT, telling your controller that you actually changed the oil so you can use the machine again? That may be a task only a few chosen factory reps can accomplish.

if it's win 3.1 user password thing, I'm sure there's workarounds available on th internet. If it's a canned Trumph software thing, then you're on the right track. Look for someone who knows the system. What sucks is as these machines get older (not Trumph in particular) the people who know these passwords and whatnot will be around no more. I've already heard of machines being scrapped because a memory battery went dead and the people who knew what that data needed to be in that memory no longer worked for the company....

if you buy any equipment, insist on 100% software access for setup, maintenance and repair.

Maybe go to an open source generic controller retrofit?
