Engineering Design using Unsaturated Soil Mechanics

I am currently taking a course in Unsaturated Soil Mechanics and for our term project we are to find a case study where unsaturated soil mechanics were used in the design or mitigation of a project. I've been doing geotechnical engineering for over 8 years and still have not been able to come across a case study where it was used. Does anyone on here know of any case studies where it was used in a design or repair of a project site?
