hi

Does anybody know of any specs or standards, or design codes for engine test stands, such as might be used in test cells. Engine is a large turboprop.

I am mainly interested in load cases.

Thank you

Graham Murphy

Graham,

If you are talking about a turboprop run up stand then a good place to start is with the negine interfece control document or manual. That will give you the normal (zero) G loading condition for the mounting points and the expected loads in the event of a full power seizure.

A test stand should be able to absorb these loads without suffering any major damage ar rupture of fluid lines. The last thing you need followning a major engine failure on test is a ruptured fuel line, BTDT - not pretty.

If you are looking for a good basis to build from ( I assume you intend to use a water brake system) try looking at the design specs for something like the AIRLOG run up trailers. They may already have a mounting adaptor designed for your engine type or something similar.

Rgds
