Is it true that the engine exhaust plumes diverge from 1 another on the port side and converge on the starboard side in the case of a 4 engined aircraft,?

Does anyone have an explanation for this? Is this phenomenon dependant on factors such as temperature, pressure, etc.?

Thanks.

True only for eastbound aircraft, the reverse happens on westbound craft. It's due to coriolis forces.

If it is due to corioliss, why would exhaust plumes divergence switch sides of the plane going westbound?
