Greetings,

Has anyone performed an FE analysis whereby they defined an element erosion criterion for their 2D or 3D elements that also contained embedded truss elements (i.e., an RC member situation where you are modeling the rebar using the embedded element technique, but you are also wanting to capture spall behavior). I am curious to know how the program treats the embedded rebar elements once the host element is eroded. If you have any comments regarding this situation, I would very much appreciate hearing them.

Thanks!

Hi ATX3,

I also am interesting in erosion of material using FE and trying to get my head around the method. I have been through an example in the abaqus exmaple manual (1.2.22-Erosion of material (sand production) in an oil wellbore), maybe that would be interesting in seeing how you get on with this problem.
