Electronics Cooling Class 2

Hello,

Does anyone know of a good online/DVD electronics cooling class? I've been through Steinberg's book and have some experience in thermal design... But I still feel like I could use a good, practical class.

Any thoughts?

Yeah. If you've read a good book or two now you need to experiment.. Mess with some heat sinks and parts. Mess with forced air flow and convection. Find a TO-220 power resistor, a tiny, tiny, thermocouple, a thermocouple reader(can be a DMM), and a handful of AVVID TO-200 heat-sinks.

Now screw with power dissipation and predicted dissipation curves and the resulting temperatures.

Here are two books that I'd recommend for the practicing thermal engineer in electronics packagaging, both by Tony Kordyban:

Hot Air Rises and Heat Sinks

More Hot Air

Both books are extremely useful for all the practical, hands on experience that Mr. Kordyban has gained over his years in electronic packaging. Also, the books are very entertaining, being full of humorous stories about learning from others' mistakes and how people use their supposed common sense to solve heat-transer problems but get everything all wrong anyway.
