Hello Reader,

Which electrode to be used for welding grey cast iron with API5L? Moreover, please share the reference for future.

The non-standard (but effective) practice is to use inconel electrode.

Any high Nickel(>55%), is usually used. But I have not had much success.

 
This is gray iron? Forget about it!! It could be brazed. If ductile iron, a high nickel filler can be used.
 
I will try Inconel

If you have pieces to sacrifice then try welding. Otherwise look into brazing.

if it was white cast iron it will be non weldable.
