Ministry of labour visisted our plant and they were so picky on every panel without approved lable. what dictates that a panel is safe or not. What are requirements by NEC?
some of them are buit 20 years ago which code was different.how about those panels?
do we have to upgrade every piece of equipment now?

Does anybody have information on this.I appreciate it alot.

UL508 standard (Industrial Control Panel)is a good start. UL generally has similar requirements as NEC.

Another ref is NFPA79 'Electrical Standards For Industrial Machinery' based on the electrical code.

They probably stopped by because of the new section they are putting in the NEC about listing all panels by the builders. There are new requirements concerning panels that are installed in your plant that were built by an OEM. I dont know yet but I would imagine that any panels that were installed prior to the requirement would be grandfathered under older codes.
