hi there

I am trying to do design a simple p-n diode in the ansys workbench and want to do the thermal electrical simulation in ansys. i am not able to create the p-type(silicon+boron) device and n-type(silicon+phosphorous) devices. so can any share your ideas with me?

thanks in advance

Is ANSYS even the right tool for this sort of thing?

That depends on what level of detail you're looking for, but there are tools that are specifically written for that. ANSYS, the company, apparently has a subpackage called TOTEM from a subsidiary company that does something with noise within circuit simulations, but ANSYS the program is more of a mechanical and thermal physics simulator.

It's been nearly 30 years since I last dealt with any, but process and semiconductor simulators like PISCES and SUPREM come to mind.

And if you are looking for actual device simulation, then a myriad varieties of SPICE might be more appropriate.
