This article came out in April 2018 and tells the story of the cargo ship El Faro. The El Faro captain miscalculated and accidently sailed into a hurricane and capsized with the loss of all hands on board. The data recorder was recovered from 3 miles down on the ocean floor, and the audio recording from the ship's bridge is captivating.

El Faro

While the video below has absolutely nothing to do the 'El Faro' or this disaster, it's very informative about how ships like the 'El Faro', large container ships, operate and some of the issues unique to them. The video is about 45 mins long so I understand if no one watches it, but it's still interesting.

When you consider how little time these container ships spend in port, which from the video appears to be very brief, combined with long periods of continuous operation at sea, I would say it was doing pretty good. Granted, they may have dramatized, or who knows, maybe even orchestrated, one or both of the 'incidents' for the sake of making the video more interesting.
