Egg shape.....HELP I'm stuck!!

Ahhhh!! I have an ellipse that needs a 3d mesh. The shape is a plane ellipse but it bulges out slightly like the side of an egg.
I have tried several ways to add structure and then mesh, but I am unable to add mesh smoothly.
Does anyone know a way to do this?

So are you needing a 3d egg essentially?? if so use 3 spheres, one smaller than the other one will be the small radius and the other will be the larger then for the rest you take several hundred larger spheres that will be the radius of the sides and then copy it and move it so that you have an egg like shape made with in the parts of this larger sphere then u will use the solids commands to union or subtract or joint the peices
or you can just draw a 2d outline of hafe the egg draw a line down the center and revolve it then you will have a 3d egg shape
