Hello All:

I'm trying to understand how to account for the effect of urban storm routing and its effect on time of concentration and subsequently, design precipitation intensity in the rational method. As I understand this can be used to optimize the storm sewer system with smaller diameter pipe as the Tc increases and a lower design intensity is assumed from the IDF curve.

If I understand correctly, this is typically shown in standard hydrology and hydraulics forms such as the one in Attachment 2 on page 56 of the ACFCD manual here:

Can someone point to a resource with worked examples showing how to account for this in standard hydrology and hydraulics calculation sheets?

Thanks!

So your trying to perform urban storm routing with calculation sheets and not a coupled hydrological and hydraulic modelling software. I can only suggest you look into epaswmm or pcswmm or other equivalent software.

When you say "urban routing", do you just mean a worked out example of how to fill out one of those pipe calculation tables? Or are you talking an urban system that has detention facilities (ponds, etc.) that you are trying to incorporate?
