Hi
We are making a welded housing (5" OD) containing sensitive electronics, we therefore use E-Beam welding to minimise the heat input and cannot use any Post Weld Heat Treatment.

The question is, are there any steels that we can use that will still meet the requirements of NACE MRO175 after E-Beaming without Post Weld Heat Treatment?

There are many but you need to control the carbon equivalent to assure meeting the hardness requirements. You should have no problem if the CE is < .35. I have often used a defocused beam to wash over the completed weld to temper the weld.
