Hi

Does anybody know how to make the failed elements disappear from the patran resuls window during the dytran postprocessing?

I've tried all the METHOD options of the adaptive master-slave surface contact in the patran contact load interface.

The elements are shells and they are made of alluminium with the FAILMPS option activated.

The stresses and displacements resulting from the analysis do confirm that the elements have passed the maximum yeld stress....

Ok i found the FAILOUT and the NZEROVEL option.
Now the failed elements are not written in the output .ARC files, BUT appear in the patran postprocessing as black shadows of highly deformed elements.
The Patran also generates groups with the result of the simulation in which there aren't those shadows.

In the MSG file i get the message:

%W-P2034204-P2XXTXIX_CHECK_ARCHIVE_EDITS,,,
Element failure has been requested for ARCHIVE file IMPATTO
Number of cycles or timesteps written to the ARCHIVE will be changed
from 10000 to 1.
Failed elements will not appear on the ARCHIVE files.
The connected grid points will always appear on the ARCHIVE files.

This last part i don't understand...So how can i generate a dynamic visualization of the phenomenon getting rid of the shadows if the grid points "will always appear" as stated by dytran?
