Dxf image

Raster images do not become part of the AutoCAD drawing file, they are only referenced in. So likewise they are not part of a dxf file.
Does the "copy and paste" method change the image from being a reference/attachment to somehow inserted (such an an OLE object)?. Can check this with Image Manager, does the image show as an attachment.
