I am trying to find out what a ducted fan could vertically lift. If anyone has any info that would be great, otherwise i'm going to get a scaled model ducted fan. Will set that up so i can measure fan rpm, airflow in and out. Presure of the outward flow and anything else i can and test it till i find what i want. Anyone else wanting to know this sort of information let me know and i'll keep you posted. Won't be done in a day...but then again they didn't build rome in that time either.

NZFIREFLY: While you are measuring all that data, do not forget to measure thrust. Thrust is basically the lifting force when the ducted fan is discharged downward and it pushes itself and whatever it is attached to up.

i'm guessing that it'd be difficult to get a good flow quantity, wouldn't you have to measure a bunch of locations simultaneously.
less rigorous would be to suspend weights from your test fan and corelate lift weight with fan rpm, blade angle, fuel flow.
