I have a vibratory screen with 2 40 hp 3ph-460V vibrating motors. It came with not controls. I know I will need a dual motor reversing starter that when shut down, reverses itself for a time( 3-10 sec.?), enough to stop the motors. I'm not sure what to use or how to wire it up. Any help appreciated.

I've never seen a stopping system on a screen. We just turned them off and let them stop by themselves.
If you must, google "Plugging". You will need a plugging switch. I haven't seen a plugging switch used since "U" frame motors became obsolete.

I have just finished doing the same thing you are doing. I installed two timers, one which comes on for one second to prevent the braking contractor from coming in instantly and one for the actual braking time. The braking contractor time will be determined by trial and error to find the best time for your application. Use a one shot timer which is wired to a n.o. Contact on your stop pushbutton.

You could use a timer, and an interlocking contactor. We use this set up to reverse a cutter, and feed apron when a machine is stopping.
