Hello all,
I have a question about the main difference between the VPI dry type transformer,cast-coil ,cast-resin and resin encapsulated in the production process?
Thx in advance

In our time VPI dry type transformer, cast-coil ,cast-resin and resin encapsulated are basically the same
thing as the procedure is based always on Vacuum Pressure Impregnation using more or less the same epoxy resin -Araldite or else and the result is cast-resin coil.
Some fiberglass reinforcement is provided also.
The resin encapsulated is a transformer encapsulated in a metallic envelope and could be simple or double insulated according to application request.
On the web you may find infinite number of articles explaining the technology. For instance:

Many of us like our transformers wet and sexy, with loads of oil.

And maybe that is because we like bigger transformers.

VPI transformers predominately use some sort of varnish to impregnate the insulation of the transformer. Cast coil transformers have the high and low voltage coils vacuum casted in an epoxy in some sort of a mold. Cast resin transformers can be similiar to cast coil transformers, and also wet wound woth epoxy resin and fiberglass. Resin encapsulated transformers are wound using epoxy pre-impregnated insulation, and cured after winding.
