Presently I am developing a device which incorporates a cellulose membrane impregnated with a solution pH<0.4. Stability continues to be a problem. Several synthetic membranes have been explored as well as several additives to preserve cellulose. The inherent problem with synthaetic membranes is that those which are advertised as being resistent to acid don't have the same flow/ absorbant characteristics of the cellulose membrane. (+/-5um pore, +/- 300um thick, Klemm +/- 13:00. I would appreciate any help in stabilizing the cellulose or finding an altenative synthetic. Thank You

Try looking at ftp://membrane.ct.utwente.nl/Membrane-Net/theses/
the above URL gets you the FTP directory /Membrane-Net/theses/ at membrane.ct.utwente.nl which is a searchable discussion list.

you may want to join the LISTSERVE at membrane-discussion@utct1029.ct.utwente.nl so you can post requests to the discussion group. I forget how to join though.
Good luck
