NFPA 13 2013 or other edition

I am about 90% sure it is there.

I though somewhere in NFPA 13, it does not allow a shut off valve, between the dry pipe valve, and the high pressure switch?

Help, am I dreaming? I know I have researched it before.

Is this what you're after?

8.17.1.4.1 Where a control valve is installed in the connection to pressure-type contactors or water motor-operated alarm devices, it shall be of the indicating type.

8.17.1.4.2 Such valves shall be sealed, locked or electrically supervised in the open position.

Well

I thought they were not allowed period??

Maybe not allowed in earlier editions??

Will look

Thanks

As far back as I could reach, that is edition 1996, the very same requirement was there.

Yep I looked at 2002

Not sure how I got it in my mind, that there could be no shut off to the high perssure switch.

Thank you for the help

So CDAFD start looking for pressure switch valves and you will find MANY that are closed with very few with electronic supervision. The switch for water flow was the one I would make a fuss about particularly for data centers with preaction valves and many $ at risk, not to mention the mega warehouse with stock to the roof. So who closed the valve, the last guy who worked on or tested the system, most building maintenance folks had no clue about it.

Yep

Writing to monitor it electronically or just remove the valve

The valve is necessary for the maintenance in the event the pressure switch needs replacement. Otherwise, the owner may need to take the entire system out of service for a relatively simple maintenance function.
