Hi everyone,

Are there any standards or recommended practices describing procedure for dry gas seal performance evaluation? the shape of test rig? and the limits on which the tests are acceptable.

I have a log sheet for dry gas seal test by John Crane, but the procedure is not explained

What could be measured, must be measured exactly.

Essentially, your company will have an inspection test plan.
If none is available, then follow the OEM test plan.
Contractually, the OEM must provide you the document. Do insist on having it for reference and review.

What you see on the log sheet is data measuring speed, temperature, time, load, test pressure and leak rate. (static and dynamic)

You should also have a drawing or specification where John Crane provides a guarantee, and the accepted deviations.

There is no standard for the test rig. Normally, we will accept the OEM setup as it is.
