Dry Bulk Tank Trucks

Good Afternoon All:
I am designing a Loading Station and Building Cover for Dry Bulk Tank Trucks and Rail Cars.
I am having trouble locating Dry Bulk Tank Truck diagrams and Dimensions.
If anyone knows where I can find this information I would appreciate it greatly.

Why don’t you contact the local DOT, they or the Highway Patrol should have some max. sizes and weights for trucks, or know where to look for them? The AAR (Association of American Railroads) has some max. dimensions and max. axle loads for various types of railcars. Your local RR will tell you what size car they can move in and out of that plant. They will be most helpful, it’s their future business. Look for Plate B or Plate C for example for clearances. Why not contact some of the builders of that type of equipment, trailers and railcars? Look at the name plates on a few bulk haul trailers in your area for manufacturers We still have, and use, phones in my area; sometimes even for serious business conversations. Those industries usually have some stds. for loading hatches and discharge chutes, locations, sizes, etc. Are these really tank trucks or are they some kind of a hopper truck or covered van for dry bulk product?

Make sure you go out and actually look at some of the equipment for additional features like farings and mirrors and antennae; swing clearance for doors and hatches. Years ago a local transit authority contracted for a sliding gate and the opening was 112" wide since the designer researchde that buses were max 102" - didn't account for mirrors and opening doors
