Hi all.
I want to run a ABB ACS550 inverter in vector control mode. I believe i have to set P9904=1. Can you tell what other critical parameters i have to change? And also does anyone know how the motor ID run works in ABB ACS550 ? Because it is somehow unclear in the manual.
Thank you very much.

panou, Set P9904 to 1 if you want sensorless vector speed control. You will need to run the motor ID at the bottom of group 99 and then, since this becomes a closed loop system, you will need to do the loop tuning in Group 23.

You will need to set the P gain and the I time but probably will not need to set D gain. These parameters determine how accurate and responsive the motor will be to speed and load changes.

Otherwise, the drive programs up much like any other drive.

It depends whether you want to run vector speed or vector torque control. 1 for the former and 2 for the latter. You can set the gains yourself in group 23 or you could do an autotune by entering 1 in parameter 2305. Make sure the motor load is connected for this autotune. For the ID run however, make sure the load is disconnected. The ID run basically calculates motor chracteristics such as stator resistance and uses this to achieve the closed loop control. Hope this helps
