Drilling Fluid Velocities

I have a drilling fluid tool that is flowing drilling mud mixtures somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 - 120 lb/ft^3 heavy mud. I am calculating my fluid velocities and coming up with some relatively high velocities around 22 ft/sec.

My question is:

1.) Is there any guidline / spec / rule of thumb for allowable velocities of mud flow?

I typically apply a 15 ft/sec max allowable velocity as stated in API 14E for process equipment liquid lines, but I am not sure this applieds here.

Thank you very much in advance!
