DRILLED THRU BOLTS WITH PLATES EACH SIDE

I am looking design for shear only using 3/4 inch dia thru bolts passing thru grout filled CMU wall, drilled thru the CMU, with plates each side of the CMU.

TEk 12-3C has a procedure - but this is for embedded anchors. Nevertheless, is it valid if any gap between the drilled hole and the anchor is either grout filled with viscous grout, or with epoxy adhesive. Which is better, and if epoxy, which Hilti epoxy, HY 200 or HY 270.

Should I ask for the holes to be dead-center vertically in a CMU, to minimize stress in the mortar joint, vs anywhere in the CMU? Or is this over-kill?

This is a situation where shear is to be delivered to one side of the wall only, correct? Were it shear delivery to both sides of the wall, you might make use of this: Hybrid Masonry Connections & Through-Bolts. In my opinion, the results are questionable when the load delivery is one sided however. There s a TEC for that too.

The main benefit of the the through bolts and back side plate are improved connection tension capacity. If this is truly pure shear, I'd consider ditching the through bolts and backside plate in favor of an adhesive anchor solution with an accepted design methodology per the anchor supplier.

Yes- one side only, -- should I call for epoxy adhesive for the gap between hole and fully threaded anchor, or grout, or nothing? I am figuring on epoxy, but want to hear advise.

I'm not clear on the nature of the "gap" that you mention. Is it just the annular space between the drilled hole and the anchor?

Yes, and also the threaded rod itself will have gaps due to the threads.
