Drilled Shaft Design In Geotechnical Prospective

There are thousands. Research the work of the late Dr. Lymon Reese at the University of Texas at Austin.

Conductor wells used in offshore oil and gas exploration are often formed by drilling out the soil and then grouting a steel conductor (basically an open-ended pile) in-place. The installation sequence is actually quite fascinating so I would say it's an interesting example of a drilled (and grouted) shaft. If this is a presentation for others then you could also briefly touch on the topics of hydrofracture, blowouts, hanging the casing joints, etc.
