Drill size selection

Hi everyone,
I want to drill a hole of 0.305" in a wooden panel which is 0.5" thick. What size drill should I use for this? and where can I select the drill size from? sorry for my ignorance.

Well there is no .305 drill. A 'N' drill is .302 and then you have a 5/16, .3125.

A metric 7.75mm (.3051) drill bit will get you close. Of course you could always specify a custom tool.

The 'N' will probably wobble enough to scrape the hole to the size you want.

I just realized that I can afford to make the hole slightly bigger, so will go with a standard 5/16 drill.

You should be able to find similar for mm. I used to use a Zeus book.

Bear in mind what the required tolerance is too.

KENAT, probably the least qualified checker you'll ever meet...
