Hi All,

I know there are two types of templates for making a drawing stand alone and master model.

I'm wondering what the difference is between the two. I mean can I use the same template file for both. I mean can I set op the .pax file in a manner that the same template file is adressed when making an master model dwg or a stand alone dwg (insert sheet)

Can someone please explain the way templates should be used ?

Kind regard,

Lars

You could use the same template for both if you specify this in your pax file...
However, the difference between both is that;

The mastermodel will take the Displayed 3D as the component (when you have one open) when you create the Drawing, or it will require you to point to the 3D when it is not opened.
The standalone will not...

I found this thread about the advantage mastermodel to non-mastermodel. Link

In the short, why we use it:
1) You can set reference set, and only show on drawing what You want, not the whole part with datum, points, etc.
2) You have two prt files, model and drawing, then technologist (someone who create CAM path) when import Your model get only model not also drawing.
3) You can create one drawing for part, and then copy/paste it and replace component for similar parts, for example ejector etc.

With best regards
Michael
