"SOME COMPONENTS NOT SHOWN FOR CLARITY" placed as a drawing note sounds like you are showing components for some other reason besides clarity. Wouldn't it be more correct to say "SOME COMPONENTS NOT SHOWN" or to say which exact components are not shown? I have seen this note under a view where some components have been removed. Instead of being declarative, we are giving unnecessary reasons for why we created a view missing some components.

I agree with adding "ITEMS X, Y AND Z NOT SHOWN" as this succinctly describes the view in question; "for clarity" adds little to nothing as far as drawing interpretation. The reader needs to know what more than they need to know why.

sometimes I show objects in an exploded arrangement, for clarity and say so

If the components are not shown in a view they're obviously not important so why would you want to list out every missing nut, washer, and other component not relevant to that view? In many assembly views that would entail listing dozens of parts and potentially confuse others with unnecessary info. Simple is best when it comes to prints IMHO, if it doesnt need to be on a print for manufacturing or assembly then leave it out.

Some parts not shown for clarity and other parts shown for confusion. All parts explicitly shown are mandatory if you can find them, and optional if you cannot.

Never heard of her. And don't call me Shirley.

I specify the components not shown, but don't specify why I was too lazy to draw them.
