This is more of an annoyance than annything but sometimes when I create a drawing and do a zoom to fit the drawing is off to the left or towards the bottom like there is something hidden preventing the drawing from fitting fully to the workspace. Any ideas?

Try going to "view" in the menu and turn off the temp axis.

Back in my AutoCAD days, I got good at playing pranks on fellow drafters. On thing I used to do if someone left their desk with AutoCAD on is: Zoom out really really far so that the drawing looked like a dot. I'd then place a single lone entity out in far off space. I'd then zoom in really really tight on to some almost unidentifiable point on the (like a corner of the part) on the drawing. For extra fun, save it. Anybody that knows AutoCAD will know what happens when the person gets back. (I also made a spoof start menu, but that's another story.)

Anyways, you may have an empty drawing view, or some sketch entity off the drawing template area. You may also have the wrong template for the drawing size you specified.

I bet it's the template. I originally made the drawing on a C size and changed to a B. I dont see how I can fix it though unless I start over.

Sometimes, something may get left "off in space".

1. Use you mouse and try grab "something" in the open area opposite to where the drawing is located. If there is something there, delete it.

2. If not, then right the drawing and select "edit sheet' and try again.

Yeah, it might be something you'd only find in the Edit Sheet mode--perhaps a line, point, or something similar when messing with the template.

rjason71,
Curious ... did you try my suggestion? I have seen it fix this problem.
If not, it is geometry lurking somewhere.

Ctopher, your idea was not a solution for this particular problem but I will definitely keep it in mind for future reference.

I can't grab anything with my mouse. I have also tried to switch template sizes back and forth with no luck.

Have you tried going into Edit Sheet Format mode, zooming out and then window selecting everything?

We have a shaft that is 48 inches long that we modified to 11 inches long in an assembly that does this.

Do you have configuration in the part?
