Hi,

Does anyone have a copy of the following paper? Actually I am looking logical drained modulus correlations. The elastic theory is not valid to correlate Eu with E', hence Stroud and Butler has some recommendations based on cu for E'. (See Barnes' Soil Mechanics). If you have the paper I would be glad if you can scan it or share it. Also, if you recommend some other method, I would like to hear.

(Please do not say do not trust correlations. I know that, but drained modulus cannot always be obtained from tests.)

Stroud, M.A. and Butler, F.G. (1975). The standard penetration test and the engineering properties of glacial materials. Proc. Symp. Engineering Properties of Glacial Materials. Midlands Soil Mechanics
and Foundations Society.

I don’t have the ref but if you have Ciria C760 - economical design of embedded retaining walls you can fin the recommendations for cu to E’. From memory it’s 130 x Cu. They could be based on Stroud

I do not have the document, but as you said 130Cu is from Stroud for London Clays only. Barnes also quotes Stroud for E' correlations for different PIs.

bdbd - see below. A method to derive drained youngs modulus from undrained modulus. I have never used it but stumbled across it now while looking for something else. I have corrected an error in the text, well at least i think its an error!

Thank you very much, but the main reason I am looking for a drained modulus correlation is to not use this elastic equation.

Shub_123, although it is not exactly what I am looking for, it is very useful! Thanks!
