Hi Folks:
Whats the best way to transfer the shear, when shear wall running parallel to wall?
1. extending wall ( build pony wall) all way up to floor/roof?
2. provide floor truss on top of wall?
3. Rim joist on top of wall?
If we use truss, sheathing is not necessary to bring all way up to floor, I guess. Then we need to provide drag load to the truss manufacturer. Sometimes that load could be huge for high wind area.
I am curious which way is the most common practice or cheaper construction.
Please advise.
Thanks in advance
