I was wondering if you could tell me how to toggle from the "draft environment to the draft view environment"? I am fairly new to solid edge and have found myself stuck. I can open older drawings and all works fine, but for some reason now when I try to open a new drawing all I get is a blank / gray screen with all the buttons. I am sure that it is something that I have turned on / off and am not sure how to get it back the way it was. I know that in drawings that I can open and see there is a return button (that if I click it turns the screen "blank / gray" as mentioned above, (draft environment). Please help. Thanks.

Hi,

as long as you did not brought in any part to be shown
it is empty.
To get something into the draft click on the Button
'Drawing View Wizard' (just below the icon with the arrow)
and follow ...

Thank you for your response, but doing this will only let me open .par or model files. What I am trying to open are .dft of .dwg files and also create .dft or .dwg files. Any help you can give me will be greatly apprecieated. Thank you for your time.

Hi,

I'm not quite sure waht you are trying to do: draw something
by yourself or derrive a 2D from a 3D-Model.
In the latter case: then yes the Wizard will let you open
a part and then it will ask which view you would like
to see as 2D and after pressing finish a 2D-model
of your part is shown which you can now dimension.
You may save it as .dft or as .dwg/dxf that's up to you
