Dacromet is a very high performance anti-corrosion treatment composed of zinc and aluminium. It's application is completely different from electrolytic treatments in that it is applied to the part in liquid form and then fired at close to 320°C.
Dacromet as described above is an organic coating containing zinc flakes in a paint base, it is applied to the component by either a dip spin process or by spraying, in either case the components will have to be cured at 320 degrees. corrosion resistance via NSS will be in the region of 500 hours to red rust, some companies add PTFE to the mix in order to maintain a consistant coefficient of friction, due to its nature of being a paint based system it is not recommended for small threaded fasteners where thread and recess fill can occurr, or flat components that will nest together during treatment. dacromet is due to be phased out in line with EU directives on Hexavalent Chrome.
