Hey group
I had a problem where a pipe fitting was passing air on test. (build by sub con)
I put this down to a parallel thread in a parallel female connection with out a sealing device.
I thought I could use a 'Dowty Washer' (metal washer with a Rubber seal in the bore)
Some colleagues had not heard of Dowty Washers and I started to doubt my method (no self confidence !!
) )
I disovered the fittings were ERMETO (thanks to the group)
I called a stockist who said i needed some 'special washers'
When I got there he gave me .......... Dowty Washers !
So, I got on the job and added Dowty Washers to the set up.
When I got to an untested setup (assuming it would need attention) I found a thin metal washer in the sealing joint with a 'cup' section which is a snug fit on the sealing face of the connection.
One site guy called this 'like the old KAMPENFILE' washers
(spelt phonetically)
I have spoken with an ERMETO dist. who doesnt reconise the washer.
Anyone shed any light on this please
TIA
