Hi!

I missed one #7 bar of 2-#7 A_sh (shear reinforcement for the diagonal tension crack of the reentrant corner) of precast DT which will support fire truck load.
How can I repair this DT bearing connection?

Here are member dimensions:
7ft wide DT with 20" high stem including 2" flange (61ft long).
7" deep 12" high blockout.

Thanks!

Some possibilities:

1) Use a strut and tie model that doesn't require the diagonal bars to justify that what exists is okay w/o reinforcement.
2) Use the same strut and tie model from #1 to determine the nature of the required reinforcement (FRP wrap / external hardware/ etc).
3) If you decide that restoring the capacity of the missing diagonal bar is a must, work out some manner of external, probably pretensioned reinforcement.

If you include a sketch of the beam end including the disposition of the reinforcing, you may get a better response to your query.

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.
