Dot in time derivative 1

I would like to be able to put both one and two dots above x or y for time derivatives in Mathcad. Is this possible? I have been able to place two dots above a 'y' using the Windows Charmap, but it's really a poor solution.

That's not possible using up to Matcad 13, 14 I don't know. But why don't you use y' and y'' - that you can do.

I don't think anything has changed on that, other that Unicode support.

Thank you for the replies. I guess y' and y'' will have to do, although they usually do mean derivative with respect to x.

How do you type y' and y'' in mathcad? I don't seem to be able to write a regular ' as Mathcad just adds parentheses around the varibale when I hit the key. Perhaps it's due to my non-english keyboard layout? Among other things this means that all my shortcuts in Mathcad are different from the ones diplayed when you move the curser over an icon Luckily Matchcad does supply a "shortcut translation" list for my language (Danish).

You need to use the <ctrl><shft>k mode to enter literal and other characters into names. Type:

Another alternative for y' and y" is to use the tick mark (`) that is on the same key as the tilde (~). The mark appears vertical in Mathcad.

I'll just repeat my 20 year old whinge in the forelorn hope that PTC are monitoring the site.

I only have very occasional use for a dot or over bar font but its frustrating when I do. I've been waiting for 20 years for the authors of Mathcad to create a set of math fonts with dots, over-bars for mean etc.

It would be easy enough to diy such a font but it would end up with as a dogs breakfast as soon as you transmitted files to other users. The cost to PTC would be a few dollars. The benefit would be that they could then finally claim that Mathcad is a complete mathematical tool without the work-arounds that still end up with mickey mouse presentation.

(I wouldn't spend money on a new version on Mathcad just to get the benefit - I've spent enough on Mathcad for what should have been in the version 1.1 which I purchased 1987/8 or thereabouts).
