Hello

On a steel plate where datum -A- is a flat surface not an edge. There are two holes drilled into the plate that are 1.000" diameter +/- .025.

If the true position calls out |TP|dia .025 MMC| A| pointing at one hole but stating "2 Holes", will the distance between the holes be checked or will the tp check each hole independently?

Yes it will automatically control the distance between the holes. It's what the ASME standard would call simultaneous requirements.
EDIT: Upon further thought, maybe it's not strictly "simultaneous requirements" as the Y14.5 standard would have it (multiple FCFs), but the gist is the same. Regardless, the answer to your question is most certainly a yes!

Although not per the standard "nX" notation I could see an argument that this falls under that instead of simultaneous requirements - however both qualify as pattern creation mechanisms and JP is of course correct, as long as there is a basic location between the holes they would be held in location relative to each other and oriented to A.
